I’m watching my “little princess” learn new balancing moves in ballet class, checking some email, and came across this bit of news from my alma mater, about teachers using dance to demonstrate patterns, multiples, and graphing. I went to Sweet Briar College, which has a highly regarded STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education program: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/2013/01/how-math-got-its-groove-back.html
loved this article…
and as a music and dance teacher I see other conclusions that are left unstated such as: music and dance are so valuable for this reason as well as so many others that it is a crime to remove it from the curriculum! who, me biased??
happy new year xo diane
