In honor of Dia de los Muertos, our Preschool in the Woods group decorated sugar skulls. One of the mommies ordered the sugar skulls from a shop in the Mission, and brought frosting, cake decorations, feathers, sequins, etc. to decorate them with. The skulls are very small, about the size of the palm of your hand, and can shatter if dropped. So each of us basically partnered with our kid to decorate as a team, usually the mommies aiming the frosting and the kids sticking things on. (There are a couple of daddies in the group, but the daddy present on this day has an infant who was more interested in watching the other kids.) Without a 1-to-1 ratio, this project would probably be more appropriate for kids a couple of years older.
